Game Details
Arcade Video game published 45 years ago:
Asteroids (c) 1980 Atari, Incorporated.
Cocktail model. For more information about the game itself, please refer to the "Asteroids [Upright model]" entry.
- TECHNICAL -
Cocktail model dimensions:
32 in. (80.5 cm) wide
24 in. (60 cm) deep
Height: adjustable from 21.5 in. (54.6 cm) to 27 in. (68.6 cm)
Weight: 164 lbs (73.8kg)
Cocktail cabinet monitor: 15 in. Quadrascan.
The cocktail model uses the same PCB as the upright model.
The cocktail harness has a jumper wire from J20 Pin7 to Pin 19 that controls the video inverter circuit.
The cocktail model has two control panels, on opposite sides of the cabinet; in a 2-player game, the players sit across from each other, and the screen's image flips over to face whichever player is currently controlling the Spaceship.
When not playing a 2-player game, the screen is always upright - in other words, the image faces P1.
Only P1's side of the cabinet has the coin mechanisms and player start buttons.
- TRIVIA -
The Cocktail model of Asteroids was released in April 1980 (even if copyrighted 1979), selling at an MSRP of $1745.
