In the game, Donkey Kong will juggle sticks, though when a torch comes the player are required not to touch it or else Donkey Kong gets burned.

An alternate version of the game was made available as Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse's model number is DC-95, while Donkey Kong Circus’ is MK-96, when they should be swapped. During the manufacturing of the games, the numbers were accidentally switched. Because Nintendo knew this didn’t pose a problem, they decided not to change it.
