An upgrade of the previous versions. There are 2 new tracks, 10 new cars and new shortcuts.

San Francisco Rush 2049 Special Edition was released in March 2003.
When Midway closed its arcade division, the anticipated update to Rush 2049 was cancelled with only a beta that had a bunch of bugfixes and two extra tracks in the form of Rush 2049 Tournament Edition. A U.S. arcade game supplier by the name of Betson took interest in Rush 2049 Tournament Edition to make various edits (such as unlocking tracks 6 and 7 and disabling all MTN features) to release this to the public as Rush 2049 Special Edition.
